Your world is dying, and She has an offer you cannot refuse. Recover what She has lost, and She will save what is yours.
The God Children (or TGC) is a writing, art, and roleplay focused group prevalent on discord and google docs. It is centered around player and non-player characters alike, following a set story (with some player-made changes and decisions along the way.)
What makes it unique and stand apart from other roleplays of its kind is the posting system, leveling system, skill trees, and the biggest part of all: your characters ARE the gods in this story! They have been given wings and powers befitting a demi-god, and are able to use them as such.
Your characters are the protagonists of my story, and I intend to treat them as such. Feel free to explore the website, learn about the world, abilities, and characters, and come join us on the discord when your ready. I hope you join us!

Many years ago, the world had been a beautiful, thriving place home to a variety of flora and fauna, with bustling continents and towering, snow-tipped mountains; now, the very tops of those mountains have been swallowed in ocean water, wide open plains drowned in salt and floating, decaying debris. Year over year the ocean has taken more and more of what remains of dry land, leaving very few islands at high elevation still untouched.
One of these islands, Allfour, is the largest such island, housing four main colonies of cats and leaving just barely enough room for territory disputes. With the fluctuating elements and terrifying storms that still rage across the world from the imbalance of the planet, the island has somehow become a diverse plot of land separated into four almost-biomes, each one different from the last. One half of the island contains a dry, sweltering and crumbling desert that clashes with the vibrant green of a humid temperate rainforest, while the other half is a wide open, windy grassland plain that shifts into a brown, muddy and chill-soaked replica of a tundra.
Despite the clashing temperatures and four-way-split miniature biomes, life has found a way to persevere, with the colonies present on the island keeping order by maintaining boundaries and finding ways to survive their own unique climates.
As of just three short months ago, however, unease and fear have begun to shake apart brittle alliances and tease formerly confident territory lines; the ocean, originally at a standstill in terms of sea level, has begun to rise once more, and it shows no signs of stopping. The desert biome of the island has been more than half-way engulfed, and the residents have taken to their only remaining option to secure their own safe, dry land....
War.
Aptly named for their personalities and spiteful behavior, the Dryheart colony is found natively to the Sinklands, where they are normally only seen travelling around during the night, when the ground is cool enough to travel upon and what freshwater can be found isn't uncomfortably warm. The colony is made up of several loose sub-colonies, fulfilling their own separate agendas and running completely opposite of each other, only coming together under one leader when called.
No one knows her name, and she is referred to only as "Leader" - those that have seen her describe her to be larger than most other cats, with a very ragged, thick-furred coat, and paws big enough to crush the bones of her enemies beneath her. When she calls, the colony answers - every time. And now, she is calling for only one thing - war, to siphon away territory from the neighboring colonies to gain habitable land for themselves. Any that refuse will be killed - deemed as traitors - or sent swimming into the ocean, away from land until they either drown, or disappear over the horizon.
The Sinklands refer to the largest portions of the island that have already sunk, or are currently still sinking, below the ocean's ever-greedy hold. What still exists above the surface is dry, cracked land, sporting almost no fresh water to be seen, with the orange and brown sun-baked sand hosting a temperature hot enough to burn the paw pads of any cat unfortunate enough to be caught out in the open during the day. On the worst of days, the temperature can easily reach over a hundred degrees, with nights chilling the air to below twenty, a supernatural rise and drop compared to the rest of the island.
This seemingly uninhabitable portion of land is home to an unofficially named colony of cats, given in distaste by the rest of the island and, aptly named, the Dryheart Colony. Refugees, exiles, and those born into the colony are all that remain there - willingly or unwillingly. The cats there are spiteful, restless, haggard and desperate - barren living conditions have sharpened their senses and their fighting skills, making them incredibly dangerous enemies to have - which, due to the rest of the island's misfortunate treatment of them, have earned them the top spot in their most-hated list.
The Dryheart hold no one god or deity to heart, having a wide range of beliefs, religious systems, and gods. The colony's unspoken matriarch, Leader, is even referred to as a god in the eyes of many, one that will pave the way to a better life for the condemned residents of the desert.
Landfore is a purely pacifistic colony that refuses to engage in any kind of aggression or physical altercation. They inhabit the richest part of the island in terms of food and resources, and are the hosts of the monthly open-trade gathering event at the Oasis in an effort to share their wealth and avoid confrontation from any side. They are highly advanced in medicine, being the natural healers of the island, and are the most respected colony out of the four that take residency on the island.
Those that attempt to attack or harm them for any reason quickly find themselves invaded on all sides - with how important the colony is to all that live on the island, no other colony would dare allow them to be uprooted. The colony is under the leadership of one cat, Tiritian, a small, scrawny tom with far too much patience for his young age.
A small body of crystal-blue water nestled in the middle of Landfore's territory, beautifully framed by large, overarching trees and foliage. Combat of any kind, even for training or friendly sparring, is strictly prohibited and grounds for immediate removal. Anything can be traded or given away here, as long as it is not capable of harm - accessories, protective wear, medicine, food, and much more.
Riverwood is a relatively small stretch of shaded forest with many intersecting rivers that houses the small community of Landfore. Many different types of medicinal herbs and plants grow here, an abundant resource for the inspiring healers of the colony.
Landfore believes in a singular deity, one they lovingly refer to as Lightgiver; a being of pure light, that holds no grudge and can heal anything, even the broken world they are trapped on. In their eyes, it is simply a matter of time before They fix what has been lost.
In order for this to happen, it is believed that Landfore must remain pure, untainted by war and bloodshed, and instead perform only good deeds - such as healing others, even those from other colonies, and bringing the Island together, in whatever way they can.
Greenhearth is the largest colony on the island, in terms of both member count as well as territory claim. They house many of the island's quickest and most agile cats, and are therefore the most likely to dine on the most unique and difficult to catch prey. They are well known for their contributions to the island's monthly trade gathering, offering up a wide variety of items, from pelts to savory treats, and a plethora of strange items that wash up daily on their side of the island.
Instead of being run by one sole leader, Greenhearth is run by a council of twelve high ranking members, none with more power over the other; they vote on decisions and come to the most popular opinion, leading to a content, peaceful colony, up until the most recent of events.
Massive, wide-open plains of vibrant green grass with strands that reach up to a cat's waist. They sheer off into a cliff leading straight down to a sandy, debris-filled beach, where many different types of items wash up from miles away - drifting off from destroyed and sunken towns, cities, and villages. The most unusual of things have been found to be washed upon the shore - from armor, weapons, to entire tooth-marked skeletons.
Like the Dryheart, Greenhearth has no one god or belief that they follow; they take cats from all walks of life, defectors from other colonies, and sometimes, those that find themselves clawing their way out of the Wilds; which means that their religious system is a mix of many beliefs and ideals. Every belief is supported and never looked down on, and, in fact, there is a bi-monthly festival held in support of the diverse beliefs of the colony, where every cat can explain their religion or beliefs to any curious cat.
If there were to be the most popular, well-known god out of all the variety that Greenhearth offers, however, it would be Skybreaker - the goddess of wind, air, and flight. A warrior unlike no other, undefeated in every aspect, and the only reason the island still stands today - She carries the weight of the world on Her wings, and uses Her wind-born abilities to keep them afloat.
Rockmoor is the smallest of all the colonies, with the smallest territory - aside from Dryheart - to boot. Despite having the smallest territory claim, they do boast having the highest elevation of the island, which is now a much sought after prize. They are well known for their perseverance and physical prowess, but also for their rock-headed, abrasive nature when it comes to the desert colony and anyone caught sniffing around their borders. They specialize in combat and war, and have found a way to craft armor out of pelts, washed-up items, plants, and bone.
Normally the colony sticks to itself, fiercely defensive of its territory and members, but have been riled up by the Dryheart colony breaching their borders. They are also the colony closest to the Wilds, meaning they deal constantly with unaligned cats stealing from their supplies. The leader of Rockmoor is Diarkis, a steel-minded tom whose only ambition is to secure a place for his colony, and if need be, fight for one.
A mixture of rocky terrain and brown, winter-stirred grass, with many caves for shelter. Heavily shadowed most of the day, providing cover from the sun, and close to the sea for fish and washed-up items. It is the coldest part of the island - some rare days see sleet, and even rarer, snow. Items that wash up here are normally shattered or broken beyond recognition, making for great reusable material in weapons and armor crafting.
The colony itself has a singular god they worship - Rainbringer, the god of rain, water, and the ocean tides themselves - and despite how the world is now, they firmly believe that the cause of the catastrophe that befell their world was not the fault of their god, and that instead, He will lower the ocean's claim and free them from the island.
The majority of the colony eats mainly fish, as they believe the aquatic life to be the ocean-born blessings of their god, finding land-prey to be particularly distasteful and unappealing.
Unallied colonies and lone survivors fill the territory of the Wilds, living a completely separate life from the rest of Allfour; they are often looked down upon for the way they control their colonies, from strange beliefs to overall aggression against outsiders.
With the war raging its way across the island, even the Wilds hasn't remained unaffected - some have picked sides, aiding temporary alliances or raiding other colonies for resources and territory among the chaos and confusion.
The majority of the island is made up of seemingly empty, uninhabited forests and jungles, home to all that despise Allfour's colony life, those that have been exiled, or simply born into misfortune. A variety of animals and predators exist here, and surviving is another hurdle on its own. They have plenty of rivers that run through the forest, and plenty of smaller prey to catch, as well - their main concern is avoiding becoming prey themselves.
There is no one religion that stems from the wilds. Any colony within it may house their own beliefs and religious systems, with no two colonies believing in the same thing.
There is, however, a bed time story that has been passed down through generations of families, with no known origin. The only part most adult cats can remember is the one part that had kept them awake at night;
It caws like the crow, It howls like the wolf, It speaks like the cat. When It inhales, the forest stills. When It exhales, the forest screams. Stray too far, and It will take your voice too.
No known age, no known name. She has fought, clawed and killed her way up into many subsections of the Dryheart Colony, taking the remaining members under her wing and having them help her solidify her hold on the territory. Those that ever lived long enough to speak of her personality describe her as apathetic, unfeeling, and irrational - desiring only to be at the top and climb until there's nothing else above her, regardless of what's left standing in her wake. No one has been able to get close to her, and anyone that may have tried have ended up with their corpse drifting back onto another colony's shores.
Sometimes, she can be seen - if anyone actually recognizes her, that is - roaming the territory at night, blending in near-perfectly due to the shade of her coat, head on a swivel and searching for something. It's unclear what that something is, but whatever - or whoever - it may be...they're better off trying to swim to a different island than sticking around to find out.
She's on the hunt, and no one has ever been able to hide from her. Not for long.
If Landfore were a cat, Tiritian would be it. The personification of purity and peace. He wouldn't raise a claw to defend even himself, should he ever be attacked, hating any kind of aggression or fighting of any kind. Should his colony ever be overrun, and members begin to fall under those that wish them harm, he still wouldn't do a thing. If it is their time, Lightgiver will appear and lead them to somewhere greater, whether that be in life, or in death.
Those that hold any kind of contempt, malice, or war in their hearts are held in disgust, Tiritian wasting no time in removing them from his ranks and pushing them from the territory. Only the purest, most faithful members may remain in the main colony of Landfore, and he makes this very well known at every gathering, meeting, or speech he attends.
Well-known across the islands for his bull-headed, stubborn love for his colony and his hot-headed temper. If one would so much as imply him or his colony to be weak or, gods forbid, insult them, he would waste no time wrestling them to the ground and attempting to bash their head into the nearest rock.
Despite his terrible, unruly temper, Diarkis is incredibly sweet on his colony, making sure each individual's needs are met, no matter the cost to himself. Everyone, from the youngest kit to the oldest elder, is equally important and beloved in his eyes.
He goes so far as to hold celebrations for each new birth of a litter, and hold mourning ceremonies for the loss of a member, always at the forefront, always the most emotional of all.
And no one loves him more than his own colony. Other colonies think it strange, how close knit they are, but because of this Rockmoor has become one of the strongest, most coordinated fighters on the island.

There aren't too many rules in regards to making a character, but for the sake of consistency and also lore, there are a few!
Characters must maintain a semi-realistic appearance. This includes fur color, size, etc. There is no set height limit as of right now, just remain within reasonable limits. The only exception to this rule is eye color; your character can have any eye color they want.
Your character's wings are almost fully customizable - bat wings, feathered wings, a mix of both - but insect wings will not be allowed on player characters. Feathers may be any color, within reason!
Customization Note: Your character does not have to have a full set of wings if you don't want them to. The limit is two, but you can have zero wings, chopped or cut wings, or wings that failed to grow in if you want; all of it will have in-game lore reasons.
Characters can only be feral, domestic cat breeds. You can ask in #questions for any clarification or possible exceptions.
Your character can be any age, within reasonable limits; no 30 year old grandpas or toddler warriors!
A character's wingspan should be no longer than 3x the length of the character from their head to the end of their tail. We don't want to be knocking other people off ledges, after all.
Accessories are not limited - you can have weapons (unusable), armor, scarves, hats, whatever you would like - but for the sake of being appropriate, your character cannot have any bones or feathers near their head or neck area. (To add, claws and talons are alright to use, but ask in #questions for exceptions.)
You may use the provided base written application and edit it to your heart's content, or make something completely unique and of your own. Keep in mind, you can add as much extra information as you want, just make sure you include these must-haves:

Your character's Name, Age, Gender, Pronouns, and current character Base level.
Personality
Add at least three neutral traits, three positive traits, and three negative traits.

History
Try to write at least two paragraphs of content; being as in-depth as possible is very important for the best in-game experience I can provide! You can also make these into bullet points if you prefer.

What power your character has, once they receive it. Include your top 3 preferred abilities.
Strengths & Weaknesses
At least 5 weaknesses/fears and 5 strengths.
